Makenna is a proud Colorado native who graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder in December 2019 with a B.A. in Journalism. With her strong background in written and multi-media communication, she brings a fresh eye to strategy and creative development. As Communications Associate, Makenna works with a wide variety of clients ranging from local government to national trade associations, assisting with creative development, marketing and communications strategy, and media and stakeholder relations.
Makenna’s communications and political career began at the Colorado State Capitol, where she served as a legislative aide to Representative Bob Rankin during her first year of college. The following summer, she interned in U.S. Congressman Scott Tipton’s campaign office assisting with donor outreach. Makenna then spent a semester off campus in Washington D.C. interning at The Hill, where she covered various committee meetings, events, and the 2018 midterm election as a staff writer.
Makenna’s final summer and semester at CU were spent between Dublin, Ireland and London, England. She participated in a literary society and writing workshop at Trinity College Dublin and studied abroad in London. While studying abroad, Makenna traveled extensively and was employed as a blogger for her study abroad program. She promptly joined the Pac/West Strategies team after returning home.
